News that broke few hours revealed that Sheik Nuru Khalid, the Imam of Apo Friday Mosque has been suspended by the steering committee of the Mosque after he criticised the government in a sermon preached to his congregation. The news was also reported by BBC Hausa.


After the news broke, Sheik Nuru Khalid has been trending on Twitter, were a lot of people like Shehu Sani, Gimba Kakanda e.t.c., have been supporting him, they also called on the steering committee of the Mosque to reverse their decision because they believe that the Imam spoke for the people. The video of the Imam's criticism that caused the suspension has also been trending online.


In the trending video Sheik Nuru Khalid said that, "His Excellency the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, you have failed us, we have your video telling Nigerians that the military is capable, they have all the requirements to tackle this insurgency and if you are voted into power you are going to make sure that happens in a short time. You have been given four years and addition yet people are dying like fowls, killing has become a norm in Nigeria under your watch. If there is no Nigerian to tell you i will take the responsibility of telling you and i will take the responsibility of the consequences because the lives and properties of Nigerians is above all.


Let me tell you Mr President, under your watch bandits are taxing Nigerians, is that the provision of the constitution of Nigeria?. Under the provision of the constitution of Nigeria no one has the right to tax any Nigerian except being authorised by the federal government.


The terrorists can dispatch information, they can dispatch intelligence information as if they’re government of their own, while our government cannot hear intelligence information and stop the rubbish on our ways.
